Supporting essential jobs and services in the Mallee

15/08/2025

The doors are opening on much-needed accommodation for key workers in the Mallee, with the early completion of 2 units in Irymple.

With 8 more units to follow, the project will help to alleviate skills shortages in the area. It will also bolster the delivery of essential services for the community.

Supported through the Regional Worker Accommodation Fund, the accommodation will be for workers in healthcare, education and law enforcement. Once completed, there’ll be a total of 28 bedrooms for workers and their families.

In another boost for the area, the houses are being built by local company MCBG Karadoc.

Worker accommodation in the north-west is a priority for the Victorian Government. Beyond the Irymple project, accommodation is also on the way for Robinvale, Kerang and in the Buloke Shire.

The Regional Worker Accommodation Fund is also supporting projects across the state. From Timboon in the south-west to Omeo in the east, it’s an investment helping more people have access to jobs close to home.

It’s an investment in infrastructure that is making regional Victoria an even better place to live, work, stay, experience, invest and study.

The Regional Worker Accommodation Fund is part of our $47 billion delivered in regional investments in just over a decade.
