The Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre (‘Nyaal Banyul’) precinct was a centrepiece project of the Geelong City Deal.

Completed in 2026, the precinct includes a purpose-built convention and exhibition space, incorporating a 1000 seat venue, two large exhibition spaces, meeting rooms, conference facilities and flexible event spaces.

The precinct is also home to retail spaces for food and beverage offerings, a public plaza on the Geelong waterfront and a 200-room Crowne Plaza hotel.

The Victorian Convention and Event Trust now operates the completed venue.

Development Victoria, the Victorian Government’s development agency, led the delivery of this project in partnership with Regional Development Victoria.

For more information, visit the Nyaal Banyul website.

Funding

The Victorian Government contributed $416.1 million to the project, with the Australian Government contributing $30 million and the City of Greater Geelong contributing $3 million – bringing the total commitment to $449.1 million.

The Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre was delivered as part of the Geelong City Deal, a collaborative partnership to transform Geelong and the Great Ocean Road by the Australian and Victorian Governments and the City of Greater Geelong.
