Located in the City of Greater Geelong, the Avalon Airport Industrial Precinct (AAEP) is set on more than 1,700 hectares of land to the east and south of Avalon Airport.
It is one of 2 large employment precincts at Avalon, located near the Greater Avalon Employment Precinct.
AAEP is strategically positioned on the Princes Freeway between Geelong and Melbourne, and specialises in:
- advanced manufacturing
- defence manufacturing
- aviation
- logistics.
The precinct has proven investor confidence, with a range of anchor tenants, including:
- Cotton On Group’s national distribution centre
- Hanwha Defence Australia’s Armoured Vehicle Centre of Excellence (H-ACE)
- Petspiration’s national distribution and operations centre
- Australia Post’s Avalon Parcel Facility
- Lockheed Martin Australia’s storage site for munition assembly.
AAEP provides direct access to Victoria’s second largest international airport – with a 24-hour, curfew-free freight and passenger hub.
The precinct continues to draw investment and ongoing development.
The Victorian Government has worked with Hanwha Defence Australia to support the establishment of the $170 million Hanwha Armoured Vehicle Centre of Excellence, which has created more than 1,000 direct jobs.
Lockheed Martin Australia has signed a Teaming Agreement with Avalon Airport Australia to explore opportunities for the advancement of guided weapons production in the precinct.
A new freight processing facility was also opened in the precinct in October 2025, supporting hundreds of jobs across cargo handling, warehousing and distribution.
AAEP has several large development sites available, offering development-ready land for large-scale industry and freight logistics.
