Ararat road and level crossing improvements signed off26/06/2020
With Victorian Government support, the south-west Victorian town of Ararat is undergoing a major infrastructure overhaul.
Ararat, about 200 kilometres west of Melbourne on the Western Highway and named after Mount Ararat 10 kilometres south-west of the town, is on target for a transport update to make way for a major new housing project.
The Victorian Government is investing $500,000 in road and level crossing improvements in Ararat to pave the way for a private housing subdivision, all part of the Regional Infrastructure Fund which is designed to improve liveability and attract more residents and visitors to towns.
The residential subdivision will create nearly 140 new, much-needed houses for the town and surrounding community, and more than 300 jobs.
What’s more, the extra housing will help fill local workforce shortages and meet interest from people looking to move to Ararat.
