RDA Melbourne


The RDA (Regional Development Australia) Committee for the Melbourne is funded by the Federal and State Government to provide a strategic and targeted response to economic, environmental and social issues affecting greater Melbourne.

Melbourne RDA covers the local government areas of Banyule, Bayside, Boroondara, Brimbank, Cardinia, Casey, Darebin, Frankston, Glen Eira, Greater Dandenong, Hobsons Bay, Hume, Kingston, Knox, Manningham, Maribyrnong, Maroondah, Melton, Monash, Moonee Valley, Moreland, Mornington Peninsula, Nillumbik, Port Phillip,  Stonnington, Whitehorse, Whittlesea, Wyndham, Yarra and Yarra Ranges.

The Melbourne RDA is an amalgam of the previous Northern, Eastern, Southern and Western RDA Committees.

The RDA Melbourne Committee will comprise representatives that bring together a wealth of experience and knowledge of government, regional business, infrastructure, the environment and education.

The role of the RDA is to build partnerships between all levels of government, industry groups, businesses, community groups and other key stakeholders in the region.

The Melbourne RDA Committee produces a Regional Plan that outlines the key priorities for our region and guides our work in strengthening greater Melbourne.

In developing and delivering the priorities in the Regional Plan we undertake to:

  • SUPPORT and ARTICULATE local priorities
  • CONSULT and ENGAGE on issues, solutions and priorities
  • ALIGN and COLLABORATE on regional programs, services, grants and initiatives
  • FACILITATE and DEVELOP plans, strategies and solutions for business growth, social inclusion and the environment
