Geothermal Energy
Gippsland’s unique geology offers local business and industry a powerful opportunity to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions through geothermal heating. Beneath the Latrobe Valley lies a vast network of warm sandstone aquifers, naturally insulated by coal seams, delivering consistent water temperatures between 30-130°C. The aquifer is ideal for low-emission heating and cooling systems. With rising energy costs and growing demand for sustainable practices, geothermal technology presents a reliable, cost-effective solution for industry, agriculture, and commercial facilities. Investing in geothermal means future-proofing your business while contributing to Gippsland’s clean energy future.

Response to “Victoria’s Future State: Why Decentralisation Should be our Priority” report
The Balance Victoria report, “Victoria’s Future State: Why Decentralisation Should be our Priority”, released in August 2018, explores decentralisation opportunities presented by regional centres in Victoria – primarily Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo.
In response, RDA Gippsland argues Latrobe City should also be considered in the discussion and subsequent planning for decentralisation.
