The Alpine Gateway visitor centre and undercover parking area is now complete and open to visitors.

The project provides a modern launch pad for a range of winter and green season activities in the warmer months, from guided nature walks and hiking to trail running and mountain biking.

The new architecturally designed two-storey building provides a much-needed visitor hub with a new under-cover carpark, observation deck and accessible amenities including showers, and heated lounge areas.

Located at the top of Heavenly Valley, the expanded car park has more than doubled capacity with a new underground space and new observation deck offering panoramic views across the Victorian Alps.

In winter, the gateway will offer visitors an improved experience, including safe and direct ski field access for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities.

Outside of the snow season, it will provide year-round access to outdoor activities, providing an ideal starting point for exploring the area’s network of walking trails.

The building will also operate as a new trailhead for the iconic Falls to Hotham Alpine Crossing, providing a launch pad for a range of green season activities.

The design draws inspiration from the colours and shapes of the High Country and includes interpretive information panels acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land.

The project is funded with $4.2 million through Regional Development Victoria and has supported close to 100 jobs during construction.
