Passing Clouds winery expansion to lure more visitors

07/10/2022

The Victorian Government is backing the Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges region to attract even more tourists, with $169,000 in funding towards the expansion of the family run Passing Clouds Winery in Musk.

The Victorian Government is supporting the project through the Regional Tourism Investment Fund, creating more jobs and offering visitors even more reasons to wine and dine in one of Victoria’s most breathtaking regions.

The cellar door expansion will feature a reclaimed timber pergola with movable clear view blinds, providing a new all-weather tasting space.

The current outdoor deck overlooking the vineyard will be permanently enclosed to accommodate more guests in the dining room, doubling the venues capacity to accommodate an additional 7,200 visitors each year. The kitchen will also be renovated and upgraded.

The project will provide significant flow on economic benefits for local businesses from more tourists visiting and generate up to 12 construction jobs and a further 2.5 ongoing employment positions. Works are expected to be finished in 2023.

Tourism is big business in the Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges, in the 2019-2020 financial year it was estimated to be worth $258 million for the local economy.

The Regional Tourism Investment Fund is helping entice more visitors to Victoria’s regions, driving private investment and accelerating the recovery of the tourism sector.
