They say seeing is believing.

Well, that’s certainly true for the massive Ballarat West Employment Zone (BWEZ).

Located on approximately 400ha of Crown land at Mitchell Park, it’s on track to become the region’s engine room for jobs and the economy.

With Stage 2 works underway, the excavation of large trenches that will form part of BWEZ’s water drainage system is underway.
In-ground services such as water, gas, electrical and NBN connections are also being installed, while internal roadworks are being prepared.

BWEZ is made up of the following precincts:

  • Acacia: A residential land development of 92 lots, ranging from 2000 to 3000m2, successfully delivered in 2022. The Acacia land development sold out in record time - a testament to the popularity of Ballarat as being a place to call home.
  • Stage 1 and 1B: A range of industrial businesses spread across 23 lots.
  • Stage 2: An industrial precinct, north of Airport Road. It features lots adjacent to Ballarat Airport, making it perfect for aviation businesses.
  • Stage 3: Will be delivered in 2 stages. Stage 3A will feature 2 large lots, while 3B is being investigated as a future Circular Economy Precinct, which aims to extend the life cycle of products and use resources more efficiently through recycling and reducing waste to zero.
  • Stage 4: Located adjacent to Ballarat Airport’s main entrance, it will form a future industrial land development.

Stage 1 and 1B are now complete, with BWEZ now home to companies including CHS Broadbent, Kane Transport, Luv-A-Duck, Westlab and Athlegen.

The 14.8ha Gateway Precinct ‘super lot’ is still available, and Development Victoria is also currently delivering 22 land lots in Stage 2.

BWEZ is a joint initiative being delivered by Development Victoria on behalf of Regional Development Victoria and the City of Ballarat.
