Works start on Portland’s foreshore redevelopment11/01/2021
Works have started on the transformation of Portland’s foreshore into a more vibrant and accessible space for locals and tourists to enjoy, throughsupport from the Victorian Government. The Government is investing $3 million from the $2.7 billion Building Works fund, established to stimulate jobs and investment across the state in response to the economic impacts of coronavirus (COVID-19).
The project includes construction of new accessible boardwalks, pathways and community spaces. Works will also include foreshore erosion protection, and lighting for community safety. The project is expected to be finished by late 2021.
The Building Works package is designed to provide immediate benefit to communities across the state, with more than half the projects in rural and regional Victoria – from our smallest town to our most famous natural wonders.
The shovel-ready projects will create jobs now and provide lasting benefits in response to the economic challenges brought about by coronavirus, drought and bushfires.
