Accessible playgrounds open in Ararat and Lake Bolac

21/12/2023

Two playgrounds in Alexandra Gardens and nearby Lake Bolac are now complete. The project is possible thanks to a $180,000 investment from the Victorian Government.

New swings, slides and all abilities equipment are now ready for visitors to experience. The first upgrades to the playgrounds in 20 years will allow people of all abilities to enjoy them.

The playgrounds support people to stay active while adding more reason to visit the popular Alexandra Gardens. Locals and visitors come to the garden to enjoy the walking trails and picnic trails which are surrounded by native bushland.

The works have been delivered with the Ararat Rural City Council, which has also supported the Lake Bolac playground project.

Lake Bolac is a small town located on the Glenelg Highway serving as a popular area for swimming, skiing, fishing and camping. The Lake Bolac playground is close to the visitor information centre and offers picnic areas, shelters, barbecues and a heritage walk.

More accessible community infrastructure will support Ararat to thrive.

The project is part of our record investment of more than $41 billion since 2014 to ensure rural and regional Victoria is an even better place to live, work, stay and play.
