Gippsland Innovation Centre on track for completion in June 202030/01/2020
Construction on the centrepiece of the $17 million Hi-Tech Precinct is well underway in Gippsland with the roof structure now complete on the Innovation Centre.
The Innovation Centre will bring together and invigorate three of Gippsland’s key growth sectors – health, food and fibre and new energy – to transform industries and redefine the region as a business innovator.
Construction works on site are progressing to schedule on the two-storey centre with floor slabs, walls, steelwork frames, and the roof now complete.
To date, 14 Gippsland businesses have been employed through the project – injecting $5 million in the local economy and supporting the construction sector and broader supply chain.
A new dedicated website has also been launched to complement the Gippsland Hi-Tech Precinct and showcase the Innovation Centre project during construction, providing a central gateway for collaboration of educators, researches, business leaders and industry.
Located on the corner of Monash Way and Princes Drive in Morwell, the Innovation Centre will be tenanted by private industry and other organisations who will have direct access to on-site partners within the Hi-Tech Precinct including TAFE Gippsland, Gippsland Tech School, Federation University and Latrobe City Council.
Managed by Federation University, the new Innovation Centre will be home to incubator and accelerator programs and creative co-working spaces that will promote innovative design thinking and skills development, with direct links to local industry and community.
The Centre will also integrate with the Gippsland Tech School to link students directly with local industry and skills and prepare Gippsland for jobs of the future and innovative ways of working.
The Innovation Centre is on track for completion in June 2020. Stay up to date with the project via http://www.hitechgippsland.com.
