New community hub for Navigators

14/12/2022

Just 10km south-east of Ballarat, rural town Navigators will welcome a new Community Hub increasing social connection for a remote community.

A joint investment between the Victorian Government contributing $326,000 from the Regional Infrastructure Fund – Round 2 and Moorabool Shire Council providing $109,000, the project will upgrade and modernise the town’s community space.

The Traditional Owners of the site, the Wadawurrung Corporation were informed of the project before planning started, knowing the importance of the land the new hub will be built on.

The new hub’s concept designs include a versatile community space, new kitchen, storage and accessible facilities for the community and visitors to use.

Local community groups will also be able to hold a wider range of events and activities with the proposed larger space.

The Navigators Community Hub is planned for completion in September 2023.

The Regional Infrastructure Fund is part of the Victorian Government’s flagship $156 million Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund, designed to help businesses create more jobs in regional Victoria and support community projects.

The Fund contributes to the Government’s almost $30 billion investment across regional and rural Victoria since 2015. Information and guidelines can be found at Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund.
