Rupanyip supermarket construction underway08/04/2021
The Rupanyup community is one step closer to having a full-service supermarket in their town with construction of the Rupanyup Community Retail Hub underway, thanks to an investment from the Victorian Government.Construction of the full-service supermarket commenced in October last year and is on track to be completed by the end of this financial year.
The project is creating valuable jobs for this important farming community, with around 35 local tradespeople to be employed during construction. The supermarket will employ six full time equivalent staff upon completion.
The Victorian Government has invested $500,000 to build the Rupanyup Community Retail Hub thanks to the Regional Infrastructure Fund which is part of the flagship Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund. The fund helps businesses create more jobs in regional Victoria, supports community projects and assists councils to deliver cultural initiatives of economic significance to the region.
The organisation behind the Rupanyup Community Retail Hub, Enterprise Rupanyup (ERup), is committed to reinvigorating the town and has purchased additional land to further develop the precinct where the hub is being built. As with the community hub, new plans will evolve in consultation with the community.
Representatives from ERup are now undertaking discussions as part of their plan to partner with a national brand to ensure the delivery of quality of food supplies to the region.
Investment in projects such as the Rupanyup Community Retail Hub showcase the Victorian Government’s commitment to making regional Victoria a better place to live, work and invest.
