Stay longer in western Victoria and see the silo art trail

13/10/2023

Wimmera Southern Mallee visitors will be able to stay longer and tour the region’s stunning silo art trail, with new accommodation ready for overnight guests thanks to support from the Victorian Government.

The accommodation is now open for bookings thanks to $2.8 million in funding for upgrades in 14 caravan parks across Horsham, Hindmarsh, West Wimmera, Yarriambiack and Northern Grampians municipalities.

The Hindmarsh Shire Council constructed six two-bedroom units at Dimboola, Jeparit, Nhill and Rainbow supported by $650,000 from the Government. The self-contained units are accessible for people of all abilities and provide more affordable accommodation options.

The new accommodation is already attracting more visitors, with the cabins at Dimboola booking out several times since opening earlier this year.

The upgrades are helping these towns capitalise on more people visiting the Silo Art Trail and provide a better experience for visitors.

The Victorian Government is also supporting the Silo Art Trail to grow through projects like the Albacutya Silo Art project near Rainbow and the Arkona Silo project near Dimboola.

These artworks share the stories behind Victoria’s small regional towns, paying homage to key figures in the local community.

The project is part of the Government’s record investment of more than $41 billion in rural and regional Victoria since 2015.
