Community Action Plan to drive Deans Marsh forward28/11/2019
Not-for-profit group Deans Marsh Community Cottage will lead a community-generated action plan for its town and the surrounding district, thanks to $20,000 from the Victorian Government’s Stronger Regional Communities Program.
Minister for Regional Development Jaclyn Symes praised the local organisation for setting up the Deans Marsh and District Community Action Plan project to help generate a vision for the local area to grow and prosper.
Deans Marsh Community Cottage is an important organisation for the town, providing a broad range of events, and services which create community development opportunities and a positive impact for the entire region.
The creation of the action plan comes after strong calls from community members for an overall strategy for the town that reflects the district’s needs and priorities and draws on its strengths and capabilities.
Deans Marsh Community Cottage will run a series of events and activities to drive a community-led conversation with the plan providing Deans Marsh and district with an opportunity to exchange information, knowledge and ideas while developing decisions and actions for growth and progress.
The funding will also assist with the development of community leadership skills that build the community’s capacity to advocate for community priorities and deliver actions identified in the plan.
The Stronger Regional Communities Program aims to support rural and regional towns through community-led initiatives and partnerships that create or enhance capabilities and economic growth to build resilient and diversified economies.
