Creswick road carpark opens with more spaces on the way06/11/2019
The Victorian Government is easing Ballarat’s parking pain with the newly-opened Creswick Road car park, building on the plan for more than another 2,100 new parking spaces for the city.
The 290-space Creswick Road carpark replaces 275 spaces at the Ballarat GovHub construction site, ensuring workers, residents and visitors can move more easily around the city.
The new car park is part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to improve parking across the City and comes in addition to funding for 1,000 new free spaces.
The new car parks are on top of a 405-space multi-deck carpark which opened at Ballarat Station earlier this year.
The opening of the Creswick Road carpark comes as engagement with the City of Ballarat progresses on site selection for the first stage of the Government’s 1,000 free Regional Car Parks Fund initiative.
Regional Development Victoria has been working closely with City of Ballarat and other key stakeholders including Chambers of Commerce, community and business organisations to identify suitable locations for additional free car spaces.
The Victorian Government is also investing in the City of Ballarat’s plan for a further 1,000 free car parks.
Regional Development Victoria is working with the City of Ballarat exploring options to create new car parking within the Eastern Oval Precinct, the health precinct, Bakery Hill and various locations Ballarat’s CBD.
Once complete, the GovHub will include 220 new underground car park bays for tenants which will ease parking congestion on surrounding streets and take the pressure off roads.
The GovHub’s unique design and strategic location, within one kilometre from the Ballarat Station and bus interchange, will also encourage more workers to take advantage of modern end-of-trip facilities and utilise diverse modes of transport such as cycling, walking or jogging to get to work.Quotes attributable to Regional Director Grampians,
