The Otway Harvest Trail is showcasing local businesses that bring out the best of what the Otways hinterland has to offer thanks to support from the Victorian Government.
The marketing enterprise has been operating since 2009 to promote the region in the form of food produce, wine, gourmet products, places to stay and eat and things to do in the Otway Ranges.
In 2018 the Otway Harvest trail received $40,000 from the Food Source Victoria fund to develop and deliver a marketing and action plan to grow the specialty food industry in the Otway region and capture the tourist trade.
The Otway Harvest Trail aims to grow the speciality food industry in the Otways region through an alliance of many small businesses producing high quality niche products. It is member owned, member-driven and volunteer based.
The project is now complete, and it has enabled the Otway Harvest Trail to consult widely across the 50+ member businesses to produce a three-year strategic marketing plan and playbook, along with promotional materials.
The Food Victoria Source program was a $20 million Victorian Government initiative to assist regional food businesses to grow. The fund helped boost exports, build industry capabilities and create jobs in regional Victoria. It encouraged food producers and their supply chain to work together to add value to food grown and processed in regional Victoria.
These investments form part of the Government’s almost $30 billion investment across regional and rural Victoria since 2015, making Victoria’s regions even better places to live, work, visit and invest.
