Delivering a smile from regional Victoria21/04/2020
Here’s a pretty sweet story made from a recipe of innovation, resilience and community spirit cooked up by a Victorian high country chocolaterie and delivered to Melbourne kids isolating over Easter.
Devouring chocolate eggs is an often taken-for-granted part of Easter celebrations for many children, but it was no guarantee for those in isolation after recently returned from overseas.
But Mansfield’s Chocolaterie RenMar came to the rescue and brought hundreds of smiles to Victorian youngsters isolating through the delivery of Easter eggs and lollipops to hotels across Melbourne.
Handmade by René, supported by business partner Martin, RenMar normally produces products such as chocolate bars, frogs and nut clusters, but this Easter they jumped into action at short notice to produce the eggs and lollipops for those kids who may otherwise have missed out.
Chocolaterie RenMar managed to produce hundreds of Easter treats for the children in just over a week – and they’ve continued to offer the chocolates beyond the Easter period.
Regional Development Victoria partnered with the company to provide the produce as part of its support for both communities impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19) and this summer’s bushfires. Mansfield is one of the areas that was severely impacted by a lack of visitors after the recent bushfires, with local trade down by 60%. It was great to be able to support a local regional business demonstrate their innovation and quality produce – and in turn watch them support those in need of a smile right now.
