A new brewery and distillery located on the pristine shores of Lake Nagambie is set to attract local and international craft-beer enthusiasts to regional Victoria and grow local jobs.
Minister for Regional Development Jaclyn Symes today attended the official opening of Nagambie Brewery and Distillery, owned by businessman Gerry Ryan.
Nagambie Brewery and Distillery opened its doors to the public this year and its team has been working behind the scenes during construction to brew its signature offerings in the purpose-built facility.
Designed by Melbourne architects Six Degrees, the new venue features a brewery, the Distiller's Den bar featuring viewing portholes into the brewery, a dining room and cafe.
The new tourist attraction has created 15 new jobs in the area and is the first venue of its kind in the Goulburn region to combine two methods of alcohol production on one site.
Nagambie Brewery and Distillery is the latest addition to Mr Ryan’s tourism offerings – joining Mitchelton Wines, also at Nagambie, the Prince Hotel in St Kilda, Gumbuya World at Tynong and Jayco Caravans – and will target the craft-tourism and wine-tourism markets.
The Victorian Government has been a longstanding supporter of Victorian tourism and local job creation and in 2017 facilitated planning and environmental development approval for Mitchelton Wines to build a 4.5-star, 58-bed hotel to grow wine-related tourism in the Goulburn region.
That project created 15 direct jobs and the region is now sharing the economic benefits from increased visitation and longer stays from tourists.
