Paving the way for more visitors to Buninyong

16/08/2022

Locals and visitors to Buninyong can now enjoy better and safer streets with improved access to transport, shops and outdoor dining thanks to an investment from the Victorian Government.

Works are now complete in Buninyong along Warrenheip Street and Learmonth Street thanks to $300,000 from the Regional Infrastructure Fund.

The new streetscape enables easier access to the town with additional car parking, repaved footpaths, new paving and street furniture.

Garden beds and vines have also been installed to complement the town’s heritage and modern buildings.

Located 10 kilometres from Ballarat, Buninyong is surrounded by farmland with many of its facilities, such as the town hall, dating back to the gold rush era.

Buninyong also features several restaurants and cafés that are set to benefit from outdoor alfresco dining spaces that are a part of the streetscape upgrades.

The streetscape upgrades will also improve pedestrian access and amenities to support Buninyong’s wide range of cultural, food and sporting events. This includes the biennial Buninyong Festival and Buninyong Village Market which offers fresh produce, live music, food and drink offerings.

The Regional Infrastructure Fund is part of the Victorian Government’s flagship Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund. The Fund is central to the Government’s record investment of more than $36 billion across regional and rural Victoria since 2015.
