Coastal Settlements of the Future

This $13.6 million program aims to manage the challenges faced by coastal settlements. Some coastal areas have become vulnerable to the impacts of flooding, inundation and storm surges. While these risks are better researched and understood than a decade ago, response and adaptation strategies remain under-developed. In partnerships with local governments, the Coastal Settlements of the Future initiative will support adjustment strategies and new land use planning tools, assessment of the vulnerability of assets and infrastructure, an audit of current land use commitments in coastal areas and guidelines for future settlement growth. This initiative will target areas in the priority coastal settlement plans including settlements within the 90 Mile Beach areas, Queenscliff and Port Fairy.

Delivery

The program will be implemented by the Department of Planning and Community Development.
