Regional Development Victoria

Bairnsdale South Industrial Estate

The Bairnsdale South Industrial Estate is enhancing regional Victoria’s appeal as a prime location for industrial growth, thanks to the completion of critical water system upgrades that were supported by RDV. These improvements were part of our ongoing commitment to supporting trunk infrastructure projects across our regions.

Funding has created new water mains, upgrades to existing infrastructure and hydrants, and the implementation of advanced water management systems.

Six black electronic water pumps, lined up from left to right behind a grey steel pipe.

By installing a strong and reliable water supply, these works have brought the estate into line with the Building Code of Australia's requirements for firefighting and enabled further growth and investment at the site.

Buildings now have access to 200kPa pressure and a flow rate of 20 litres per second, eliminating the need for private firefighting systems that incurred significant construction costs of up to $100,000.

This challenge hindered development, suppressed land values and slowed economic growth. By addressing these issues, the water infrastructure upgrade has reduced costs for businesses, while stimulating development.

This project was completed in November 2024 and made possible through our collaboration with East Gippsland Water and East Gippsland Shire Council, along with support from local landowners.
