Objectives of Program

The Victorian Government is investing in the future of regional Victoria. The key to success will be acting to diversify local economies, attracting new industries, creating new employment opportunities and improving regional liveability. One way the Victorian Government will achieve this is to relocate Victorian public-sector roles to the regions, with GovHubs serving as the catalyst.

As part of the Victorian Budget 2017/18, the Victorian Government announced plans for new regional employment hubs – GovHubs – in Ballarat and the Latrobe Valley to grow the local economy and broaden the public sector away from a Melbourne-centric model. In the Victorian Budget 2018/19 announcements, the Victorian Government announced plans for another GovHub project in Bendigo.

Creating the GovHubs provides new economic and career opportunities for communities in Ballarat, the Latrobe Valley and Bendigo, and a unique opportunity for some public-sector staff to be part of the growth of regional Victoria.
