Register now for the 2018 Goulburn Regional Assembly

People living and working in the Goulburn region are welcome to register for this year’s Regional Assembly, being held in Shepparton on Wednesday 18 July.

Regional assemblies held across Victoria, starting in 2016, are helping to identify and refine individual region’s priorities, through listening to the people living in them. Goulburn Regional Partnership Chair David McKenzie said the Partnership listened to participants at the last two assemblies and several key priorities identified have received funding in this year’s state budget.

“We were pleased with the outcomes for our region in this year’s Victorian Budget,” Mr McKenzie said.

Amongst the funding, $312.9 million for upgrades to the Shepparton Rail Line and $23 million for the Munarra Centre for Regional Excellence, a state-of-the-art educational, sporting, cultural and community centre for young people to be based on Yorta Yorta country in Shepparton.

Mr McKenzie said this year’s assembly will be a great night and a chance to ask some of the hard questions about persistent issues we face in Goulburn.

“This year’s assembly will be another chance for residents, community organisations and businesses to hear what the Partnership has achieved to date, and to help further shape and influence its main priorities.”

Mr McKenzie added the Partnership’s achievements went beyond securing budget outcomes.

“It had also been effective in bringing different groups and levels of government in the region together and ensuring people were listening and working together for the benefit of the Goulburn region.”
