Setting the future economic direction of Loddon Campaspe20/05/2019
The Loddon Campaspe Regional Partnership and the Loddon Mallee RDA are joining forces to produce an economic vision for the Loddon Campaspe region which they hope will drive future economic growth.
“Each of our region’s Local Government Areas has its economic focus and direction,” explains Acting Loddon Campaspe Regional Partnership Chair David Richardson. “But there is no overall long-term economic direction or strategy for the whole of Loddon Campaspe. That’s where we come in.”
The two groups have employed a consultancy to undertake a technical analysis and deeper engagement with industry and stakeholders to build the Regional Economic Growth Strategy which is expected by the middle of the year.
“We are looking for what the really significant projects and drivers are for economic growth in our region going forward,” explains Mr Richardson, who adds that the strategy, which will have taken a year to research and develop, has identified five high level focus areas: Bendigo - the regional Capital; industries of the future; regional employment and innovation corridor; strong food and regional manufacturing; and international and visitor economy.
The final strategy will include an investment prospectus, a list of key projects in the region which need supporting.
“We are hoping to provide a focus for future development,” explains Mr Richardson.
