Register now for the 2018 Ovens Murray Regional Assembly

People living and working in the Ovens Murray region are invited to register for this year’s Regional Assembly, being held in Wangaratta on Wednesday 27 June.

Regional assemblies held across Victoria, starting in 2016, are helping to identify and refine individual region’s priorities, through listening to the people living in them.

Ovens Murray Regional Partnership Chair Irene Grant said the Partnership listened to participants at the last two assemblies and several key priorities identified have received funding in this year’s state budget.

“Amongst the funding, is $300,000 going towards establishing the Wangaratta Digital Hub, $300,000 towards planning for the Wodonga Innovation Hub and $300,000 to develop the Hume Regional Renewable Energy Strategy,” Ms Grant said.

“There was an encouraging $2 million provided for the Falls to Hotham Alpine Crossing project, which will support tourism, one of the region’s key economic sectors.

“This year’s assembly will be another chance for residents, community organisations and businesses to hear what the Partnership has achieved to date, and to help further shape and influence its main priorities.

”Ms Grant added the Partnership’s achievements went beyond securing budget outcomes.

“It had also been effective in bringing different groups and levels of government in the region together and ensuring people were listening and working together for the benefit of Ovens Murray.”

Ms Grant said agriculture, digital innovation, renewable energy, early years and youth, will all be on the agenda at this year’s assembly.
